The Hope No.8 — Geometry of Joy is a mixed-media painting from the Thread series. The work was originally part of the artist’s earlier Hope cycle and was reimagined in 2026 through the addition of stitched wool thread elements.

The composition shows several sunlit hands reaching upward toward a vibrant sky shifting from bright blue into deeper tones of blue. The gesture of the hands creates a sense of movement and aspiration, a recurring motif within the series — a symbol of human desire to move toward light, purpose, and inner freedom.

Across the surface of the painting a constellation of geometric forms appears, carefully stitched with wool thread. A red circular form, fragments of red and yellow rectangles, elongated blue structures, and smaller red elements are scattered throughout the composition. These stitched figures introduce rhythm and playful structure into the work, creating a dialogue between geometry and the organic gestures of the hands.

A partial stitched border runs along the left side of the canvas and continues across the top and slightly along the bottom edge. Made from multicolored thread, this frame-like structure subtly anchors the composition while simultaneously remaining open and unfinished — suggesting that the image continues beyond its physical boundaries.

The contrast between expressive figurative painting and vibrant geometric elements creates an atmosphere that is both dynamic and playful. The colorful shapes evoke the visual language of childhood — building blocks, games, and playful structures scattered across space.

Through this visual metaphor the painting reflects on life as a form of play within invisible systems of rules and structures. The geometric shapes symbolize these frameworks, while the reaching hands represent the persistent human impulse to move beyond them — toward dreams, identity, and spiritual connection.

Geometry of Joy celebrates the tension between order and freedom, reminding the viewer that even within the structures of life, the movement toward hope and joy continues.
